The Unsung Heroes

Teacher, mentor, rabbi or ustadz. Why is it that they kept on telling that the teachers are unsung heroes? Well, the fact is that beyond the difficulties being confronted by every faithful teachers only few could remember the importance of having a teacher.Being a teacher, you represent as a second parent, as in everything will be leave in your responsibilities teaching, caring even rearing the child. On my part as an adviser of third year high school here in Fatima High, General Santos City , Philippines. I handle (68) sixty eight students on my advisory alone plus the (300) three hundred students, I handle in different sections as a subject teacher of History.Disciplining a student is not really an easy task, handling students with different attitude even upbringing! It's a great challenge everyday on my part, the CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT.
Classroom management, if you are not motherly type even an affectionate teacher, surely my goodness! You can spank a child specially a hard headed one. Imposing a discipline nowadays, becomes so, difficult when there is a bill/ law Bantay Bata 163 imitated in the United States style of disciplining, the NO BODY CONTACT even NO HARSH WORDS will be said or else teacher will be dealt guilty then be able to pay or take his/ her license away if the teacher commit a mistake. Therefore, being a teacher you have a lot to be observed. They said,"Teacher is the noblest profession yet, unsung heroes".It is because, despite of hardships even concern to educate the youth only few could appreciate or remember the teacher's sacrifice,to the extent some mentors become bachelor even spinster rather marrying their profession. I hope the image even condition of a teacher will improve. I hope the law will not over underestimate the teachers capacity on imposing discipline. Because, the students today compared before has a big difference. Before the students follow even respect their teachers (NO MEDIA in BETWEEN), but now, students never follow nor respect their teachers (only few). Students before listen well, make projects promptly, now students, they take for granted the learning.Even students forget the essence of education, instead students attention are focus to media (Internet or computer, television, radio & newspaper). We know "knowledge is power" as well "education is a continuous process",so, where is the power of knowledge now, if there are a lot of hindrances in imposing discipline? How can the teachers make a best education without imposing proper discipline? Like for example I'm discussing History topics, others are busy on their cellphone, not listening, even if the teacher keep on telling "keep all your cellphone away or turn it on a silent mode".Dr. Jose Rizal said" Youth are the hope of our Motherland", but how could become a hope if there is such law controlling the teachers. Now, I concluded to myself "Let the students chose if they want to pass they should listen but if not it's up to them."Anyway education is not by force, but by heart. Even it's up to the students to select their destiny. I remember before my teacher will spank me if I cant recite the ABC nor count 1- 100, if i can't make my homework I will be punished seating on the air or squat jump. I don't forget my great teacher Mrs. Ricafort my first grade mentor as well my best model as a mentor, most of all Jesus Christ the great rabbi/ teacher. I learn a lot from Mrs. Ricafort, a strict but kind mentor. I hope all the teachers will be STRICT BUT KIND to their students.
